A Birthday Crown Fit For a Princess! It was my Niece’s birthday recently, and I love to make something for them each year. This time around I thought a birthday crown was fitting for a 4-year-old Princess. I used the sustainable Christmas crown template found on the Pitt Trading website here The fabric I used is a cotton velvet, mid-weight with a lovely plush finish. The fabric is quite soft with a lovely drape so this project required a stabilizer. I cut the same shape in a non-iron on shapewell and sandwiched that between the two layers of velvet. Also sandwiched in at either end is a piece of ribbon to tie. I stitched round the entire edge, 6mm in from the edge with a 3mm straight stitch to secure everything in place. I then got to making it pretty! I added a number 4 embroidery to the front centre, using the in-built Curlz font in the 30mm height, hooped up in the 120×120 hoop. The embroidery is a soft gold and paired beautifully with the amethyst velvet I then added a few more finishing touches, a ribbon stitched across the bottom and some jewels to the points of the crown. The crown doubled as a gift wrapping too. The birthday girl was pretty happy with it! Until next time, Happy sewing Julia #Pfaff-Australia Facebook Email Print X Pinterest
