How did you get started quilting? | My quilting career started when Blessington Pty Ltd added HandiQuilter to their stable brands and I was asked to manage the brand! |
How old were you when you made your first quilt? | My first in real Quilting was around eight years ago, before that I was just a “wannabee” quilter! |
Who taught you to quilt? | I basically had to quilt to conduct my job successfully, so I did some beginner classes with Helen Godden and also with Craftsy’s help I taught myself. |
What do you like best about quilting? | The community of friends that quilting has brought me and the reward of a grandchilds smile when they receive their first quilt. |
How do you decide what pattern to quilt? | The patchwork style dictates the patterns it needs to enhance it. My quilting is just there to compliment the patchwork and together they shine! |
Do you have any quilt tips you could share? | When you are learning the skill of FMQ go easy on yourself, enjoy the process and to quote Angela Walters “A finished quilt is better than a perfect quilt top!” |
How many quilts have you made and for whom have you made quilts? | Many many quilts! Too many to remember how many! I love to make them for my six grandchildren as they grow, my siblings as they have significant birthdays, Blessington for show samples and I love making swap quilts for the MQG! |
Where do you quilt and on what HQ machine? | I am very fortunate to have my own studio where I love to quilt on my HQ Sweet Sixteen and HQ Avante on the Studio frame with HQ ProStitcher. |
How much time do you quilt every week, day? | I try to at least quilt several hours on a weekend but also like to stitch something everyday of possible! |
What advice do you wish someone had told you when you started quilting? | To go with my instincts and trust my own judgement. It took me a longtime to be confident in my ability. |
